Town Financial Background
The Town of Rising Sun has a population of roughly 2100 and provides municipal services, including Administration, Police, Park & Recreation, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution, Public Facility Maintenance, Streets and Sidewalks, Code Enforcement, Building Inspections, Planning and Zoning.
Accounts are organized using a General Fund with individual departments reflected within the Fund. The Town also has 4 enterprise funds, consisting of Sewer, Water, Trash Recyclables & Yard Waste and Streets & Sidewalks. The approved budget for all Town operations for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2008 is $11.9 million, which includes $9 million of projected expenditures for the construction of new drinking water and wastewater facilities. The Town has several building and infrastructure loan payments; however, we are currently not subject to individual audit requirements.
The Town utilizes a windows based accounting system, MAS 90, for its financial reports and information.
